AFTER FORMING IN SUMMER 04, MUDDSPYDER HAS ENTERED THE MUSIC SCENE KICKING AND SCREAMING. PULLING NO PUNCHES AND BOWING TO NO ONE, MUDDSPYDER BRINGS FRESH LIFE TO A STALE ROCK MUSIC WORLD
MUDDSPYDER BIOGRAPHY
MUDDSPYDER came together in June of 2004 when Mike Neuhaus (vocalist) left the Lubbock band Bedlum to join forces with Cliff Kaskie (Guitarist), after leaving the Austin band Mad Hatter. Mike and I have always been able to collaborate and feel the music. Says Cliff. It was natural that we formed something new and fresh. The newly formed duo was introduced to Brandon Kimbrell, (Bassist) by a mutual friend and all three hit it off. Several drummers later the three muddspyders thought there were not any more drummers in Lubbock. Robert Escobedo (Drummer) had recently left the Lubbock band East of Seven and was seeking a group of guys that had the same musical talents and influences. I invited Robert out to a practice session and we all clicked personally, then the music clicked. We had back to back gigs a week and half after Robert joined and we have not stopped since! Says Mike.
Michael was born December 22, 1970 and is a native Austinite. Several women and bands later found himself in Lubbock, Texas. Taking music in a more serious manner, especially in the business side, he slowly built a band of individuals that had their act together. I cant stand punching this time clock anymore, I wanna rock-n-roll.
Cliff is from Oklahoma and was born November 11, 1969. Cliff grew up in San Antonio Texas with a lot of excitement and moved to Austin in his early twenties. I only took direction from me, no one else and cared less what anybody thought. An attitude you can still hear in his guitar riffs to this day.
The wild card in the band, Brandon is from Lubbock, Texas and was born December 10, 1979. The mystery man of the band, Brandon writes music in his spare time being well versed in music composition. His love of taking chances shows in his bass style and outrageous personality. Like Brandon says, Hey, screw em if they cant take a joke, joke em if they cant take a screw!
At the age of 10 Robert began to develop a passion for drumming. Unlike some drummers who received formal training at an early age, Robert's interest was sparked by a couple wooden perches in the family's birdcage. Add a couple of mom's pots and pans and "bam", instant drum set. His new passion helped steer the misguided youth in a positive direction. Robert's greatest influence, both in life and musically, was Geraldo "Lalo" Davila. Lalo is a meticulous instructor who helps his students become well rounded percussionists.
The name MUDDSPYDER came from an afternoon party where a close friend was to the point of passing out. All of a sudden he was shouting, I got it! Ends up he spilled a little beer in between the crack of a park bench and in the dry dirt below a figure that looked like a spider bubbled up. It stuck. Thought of other names, but always came back to MUDDSPYDER!
The bands first gig was at the Los Carnales biker club on May 14th 2005. The band is currently cracking the stuck up Lubbock cover band gig pool, while building a huge following in the populi within and surrounding Lubbock Texas. MUDDSPYDER comes into the music scene with a fresh vision of rock. As Robert sums it up, We create music that we can play live instead of this new wave of music that can only be produced in a studio and will not deviate from that. Collectively the band feels, We will not accept being what people or any disc jockey wants us to be, were just a group of guys that love to play and do it our own way in our token time.
We have. We used to tour and play lives venues, box clubs and especially loved the biker rally's!
MOTLEY CRUE, IRON MAIDEN, ACDC, LED ZEPPLIN and the list goes on and on.
Miss you guys out there.
