So this is [b]the size of the ocean[b] soundclick site - welcome to it. the size of the ocean is the alternative / rock / emo / metal personal musical experiment / project of me, Eric Hartmann. I am a multi-instrumentalist / songwriter / studio owner who is in the process of doing a CD recording project here in Tempe, AZ. The CD project has several purposes really, but first and foremost is to get a quality sampling of some of my songs (finally). I am also trying to put together a solid promotional piece to showcase my studio, and my engineering / production skills as well. I am simply looking for some cool, talented people to help me out ( I am especially looking for vocalists - I don't want to sing on every song)!
So I am using this site as a temporary home for some of my songs while the project comes together. It's a place for people to take a listen to the tracks as they take shape. I will be adding new songs as they become available, and updating existing ones as they develop. I am smack in the middle of recording now - I'm looking to record 8 - 10 tracks and will be pressing 1000 professionally packaged CDs sometime around October. Anyone contributing, and Id like to find multiple people, are welcome to 50 CDs each and possibly compd studio time equal to the amount of time they contribute.
I am looking for talented, grounded folks so no drugs, heavy drinking, big egos, assorted damage... If it matters I am in my 30s I dont care how old you are, but over 21 seems wise. Oh, and I am not looking to form a band, this is just a project, so if you are in a band or are otherwise encumbered it's no big deal. The idea situation is for me to find a few great people to work on a few songs each, so the commitment is realatively small, while the rewards could be great (if you are, of course, into it)!
I'll keep this short - I have played in a bunch of bands here and around the country including: Zu Gods (angry alt metal), Victoria's Garden (female fronted pop grunge rock), Oceansize (two piece progressive emo) and Mountains Were Allison (alt pop folk hard rock).
I haven't played live in years, lol, but I am never against it! I have played extensively in the past and I really do love to play live. I have been fortunate in some of my past bands to have played with some major label acts, the most special of which is opening for King's X (probably my favorite band) at the El Ray Theather in Albuquerque on the Dogman tour. Wow!
My influences are varied, so you are best to just get to it and listen to some songs, but for those interested I am into: Tori Amos, Jeff Buckley, Tracy Chapman, Coheed and Cambria, Dream Theater, Dredg, Eleven, The Gathering, Hum, Ks Choice, Kings X, Our Lady Peace, Sarah McLachlan, Rage Against the Machine, Splender, Slipknot, Soundgarden, Sunny Day Real Estate, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Tool. Hmmm, do I write songs that sound exactly like any of those artists? No, but if you listen closely I think you can hear a bit of each of their influence on the songs.
Good lord, that would take hours! Quick list... I record with MOTU, Sonar, Blue, Avalon, AKG, Shure, Senneheiser, EMU, more. I play Zon, Hamer, Brian Moore, MusicMan, Ibanez, Washburn, Sovtack, Marshall, SWR, Hartke.
I like chocolate milk! I like cereal!
