old-time fiddle tunes and folk songs popular in the South during the Civil War (War Between the States) with focus on the Confederacy
A Stitch In Time was formed by accident about 2 years ago when we were put on stage together by chance at a gathering at the Montgomery County Fair Grounds. We were hired at that event to play at a Civil War Battle Reenactment in Hot Springs. That gig led to another, and another, and finally to where we are now. The members of the group are: Marianne Siller - vocals, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and jaw harp--Phyllis Ryle -vocals, fiddle, guitar, and spoons--and, Bob Nation - fiddle. Our group has two basic purposes. First, we just want to have fun playing music. Second, we want to promote old time accoustic music. We hope you enjoy what we do, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Band/artist history
A Stitch In Time has performed at Battle Reenactments at the Garland County Fair Grounds (2004) and Lake Catherine State Park near Hot Springs, Arkansas (2005). We are scheduled to play at a Battle reenactment at Lake DeGray State Park the last week in October, 2005.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play live at Civil War Reenactments in Central and Western Arkansas, and are available for reenactments and other gatherings where old time accoustic music is appropriate.
Your musical influences
Our style of music is based on the kind of music I grew up with. We all really like accoustic music and old time music. Those old tunes seem to have more character.
What equipment do you use?
Our instruments are primarily hand made by individuals in Arkansas and Texas.
Anything else?
We just love Old Time Accoustic music and hope you do to. We are glad for this opportunity to share it with you.
