UPDATE: Recently I have changed my email address to mike726x@yahoo.ca because I can't no longer access to my old mail box, please contact me at the new email address. Thank you. ------------------------------------- Hello everyone and welcome to Mad Mosquitoes's website. My name is Tuan Anh and I was the drummer and keyboardist of the band. We splitted up in 2003 but I am still carying the MM spirit by following the styles that we used to play to make new songs. All the songs that you hear from this site are all be done by me and my Yamaha CS6x synth. UPDATE: Some of the songs have been moved to www.soundclick.com/miketran
Band/artist history
The band was formed in summer of 2002 in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam by Phuong - drums, Loc - guitars, Tuan - bass, Vinh - vocals and Tuan Anh - keyboards. We played alternative rock and covered songs from The Calling, 3 doors down, Blink 182... Then there was some changes in the band, Phuong moved to Australia, Tuan Anh from playing keyboards switched to drums. After a few gigs, we found out that we needed a background guitar to fill-up in some solo guitar patterns, hence Duy joined us as a helper at guitar line. We played a few shows afterward then splitted up in summer 2003. Tuan Anh moved to Canada, Tuan joined Microwave, Loc formed Icequeen. We did perform our own songs at some gigs and recorded demos but the quality of those were not good enough to publish so we'll keep them private until the next appearance if we still have a chance. There was just a short period of time that we were playing music together but for every member of the band, we'll be forever brothers and looking for those days again in future.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We played several gigs around 15-20 in Vietnam. The first show was at a small coffee shop in Tu Xuong street and last show was in Le Thanh discotheque. We played on some university stages at our early days then played a few shows for HCM RFC from October 2002.
Your musical influences
We played alternative rock but there were different musical tastes of each member. Tuan likes Nu-metal, Phuong likes R&B, Loc likes gothic, Vinh likes alternative, I like alternative, progressive metal, new age and Duy likes Pop... So our music is really like a melting pot of those genres.
What equipment do you use?
Hardware: Yamaha CS6x synth, Kurzweil PC2R, Roland XV-5050, Behringer UB802 Mixer, Yamaha RGX 121 guitar and Alesis GuitarFX Software: Korg Legacy Collection, Minimonsta, NI Xpress Keyboards, Absynth 3, Reaktor 5, Moog Modular V2
Anything else?
These songs that you find here do not really describe Mad Mosquitoes because they are my own music. But I am looking forward to have some Mad Mosquitoes' songs re-done.
