Born and raised in the United Kingdom and currently residing in Kuwait (situated in the Arabian Gulf), singer and songwriter Samie D. has been singing since the age of 8. "I used to sing all the time, at school to my teachers, in the car, on the bus, everywhere!". Samie has won a Karaoke competition on local radio Superstation 99.7, has performed on BBC telivision and has a university degree in English Literature.
Samie says, "I feel there's more to music than speaking seldomly about love and relationships, I want my music to be like modern poetry, I want to speak about my feelings and about the world surrounding me. I live in the centre of one of the most politically dynamic areas of the world, I've got to have a say in things, or at least explain them in my way."
With influences such as, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Avant and Keane, amongst others, Samie tries to bring music from his Middle Eastern and British cultures together. Using harmonious R&B melodies Samie creates his messages: "Music should be a message of peace, it should also be a pleasure to listen to. Let's forget the wars and anger, instead lets talk about love and unity amongst civilizations."
Samie has written songs for great artists such as R&B vocalist Arabface of the Kuwait-based Hip-Hop group Army of One, Kuwaiti Hip-Hop group Kuwait Dynasty Family and the Canadian group Meadow Parks. Samie D. continues to write music with passion, hoping for the day his message will be heard.
