Trenton makes the world takes!
Their sound veering from physcedelia to punk and rock to Heavy Metal, the Odessa Steps emerged on the New Jersey scene as (nominally) a punk-rock group with few similarities to any other act going. Each member is conservatory trained and a veteran of top orchestras (just kidding). The story of the Odessa Steps is one of triumph, tragedy, redemption, dissolution, and a new redemption.
The four original members of the Odessa Steps -- drummer Tim Gersch, guitarist Chris Gersch , vocalist Daniel Feldman and bassist Brian Sehuelt -- came together sometime I'm not really sure about. All were fans of punk & rock and had been involved with in since they were born. Or at least when they started primary school. I mean, it's been a while.
The band suffered loosing Brian Sehuelt at some point (he didn't die, he was in Texas), which seriously injured the band. A while after that, Sehuelt was replaced by Umut Akyol who didn't really know how to play bass guitar but just wanted to hang out with these guys. When the band realized that Akyol didn't know how to play bass guitar, Akyol tried to play guitar instead of that. Without a bass player, they couldn't maintain a consistent sound and experienced serious problems. Tom Cain was recruited on bass, and the new lineup continued the group's practices. Then the new line-up saw Sehuelt return to the band after years, this time as a vocalist and a bassist. So the band thought perhaps a better solution would be for them to have two vocals (Sehuelt and Feldman) and one bass player (Cain).
This band is all totally committed musicians who always do their best to give a fantastic show and who are bouncing up the musical ladder. If you have not already seen the band in action then make it your number one priority, you will be very glad you did!

The musical influences for each member of The Odessa Steps are very diverse. The Gersch Brothers, Sehuelt and Feldman admire many punk and rock bands and also Neil Young. Cain was influenced by more different acts as Police and Beatles. Umut Akyol brought the mix of psychdelia and and fucking heavy metal influence by listening to such bands as Pink Floyd and Megadeth
