INITIUM is latin for beginning, start, commencement, origin
Initium was concieved in April of 2004 under original name Bloodright in Sedalia, MO, by guitarist Chris Hess and guitarist Kevin Cook. Musicians were scarce, so after going through a few, they decided to pack up and move to the city. Many days passed with no luck of finding anyone stable, talented, and driven enough to move forward with. Plans were starting to look grim until January 29, 2005 when Chris Summers Joined.
Many tryouts for drums were held with countless musicians failing to capture the essence of what C. Hess and K. Cook were looking for. C. Summers delivered exactly what Initium needed and more. After only 30 minutes of tryout, he was hired and began to practice regurlarly with the group.
Songs began to come together and the friendship that would soon become the backbone of the band took shape. Still, though, it was only two guitars and drums; no vocals; no bass.
After about 2 months, they began auditioning vocalists and bassists. This was a big decision on behalf of the band and needed to be carefully analyzed in order to perfect and grow on the sound they were taking on. All of their hopes and desires came to life when vocalist Brian "Scary" Oleson spontaneously appeared at practice uninvited and completly unrehearsed.
He began to scream to the songs without any knowledge of them whatsoever. The energy, charisma, and attitude was like a fire burning hotter and hotter. Immediatly the rest of the band members knew that "Scary" was to be the new Vocalist/Frontman. He was hired on April 17, 2005.
As for bass, the duties were taken on Thursday, May 27, by Dustin Johnson of St. Joseph, MO. Welcome Dustin!
