G.P.I. is a band with a message. It steps up and challenges those who "are right" in society, mainly politicians and Christianity, although the members have differing views on each. That is what the band is about - anything that pisses anyone off they can vent that anger through G.P.I.
The band started in February of 2005, after a history of bands never getting anywhere or being left for a period I decided to start up my own project again. Initially it was claaed "Draghkar" but this name was later changed to "G.P.I." as I thought it was more apt.
The vocals were originally going to be done by myself exclusively but since John and James were there (recording for 2 Fiddy 4 Viddy) and both seemed very interested after hearing the music i wanted to include them and Dave who showed up later that day. James had a great vocal style but thereal surprise was John who had a brutal scream on him, and can be heard at the end of "For a Moment".
Lyrics were written there on the day, although I had lyrics written already. In the end only the second verse and the chorus made it to the final recording. Dave helped with the lyrical content, and James came up with a lot of lyrics, but everyone chipped in somewhere.
The rest of the album should be recorded inside the next two months.
Haven't played live yet, due to lack of drummer, but maybe someday in the future we will.
Dean - Influenced mainly by life, but if I were to say musically, Arch enemy, Atari Teenage Riot, Dark Tranquillity, Emperor, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry.
Initially the songs were recorded using a crude method onto a home computer. The equipment used at that stage was an Ibanez EX Series guitar through a Westfield amp (these didn't make it to the initial recordings here, but on later releases the Ibanez will be present through a Marshall). This was picked up with a Goodman's mic onto Cakewalk Home Studio.
Obviously the sound quality has vastly improved since then.
Stay true to yourself.
