Canberra based hip hop artist, BRB, hits hard with relevant and spontaneous freestyles and inspirational lyrics delivered with a distinctively smooth flow. His release of Decible King is a fine example of this and his diversity. It includes the much loved 'Who's Fresh' full of cutting punch lines, 'My Lady' giving Barry White a run for his money and 'Strictly hip hop' a classic track to get the devoted heads nodding.
BRB has had the honour of collaborating with some highly esteemed and talented artists. Krosswerdz Recordings released the 'BRB 3B' in July 2014 with all tracks available for free download. The first track, 'Shook' is an upbeat collaboration with the renowned KJ-52. The second track, 'The Devil's Playground' is a pensive thriller created with Cas Metah of the Scribbling Idiots. Music with a message, the video clips for the tracks build on these artistic expressions. Track three of the BRB 3B is a war cry forged with B's partner in rhyme, the talented Sydney based artist, Izzy.
Originally from the US with South American heritage and now based in Australia, BRB combines US east coast flow with a west coast flair in a laid back Aussie style. Cleverly written lyrics coupled with powerful freestyle result in his entertaining and moving songs. Able to play rhythm and percussion with original tracks and his own DJ work BRB brings a powerful duo of beats and rhymes together into one.
He has rocked the mic in the U.S, throughout Europe and has played a range of gigs in Australia from The Big Exoday and Black Stump music festivals to pub gigs, schools, large community events, and was even the first hip hop act to perform in the Great Hall at Canberra's Parliament House. One of the tracks, 'Hard Times', is a tear jerker on the importance of support throughout his battle. The video clip features real life footage from some of his time in the hospital where he continued to write music when well enough to do so. This was all proceeded by his first single release Amazing Grace which won Best Urban Gospel Music Award of 2005. ??In 2006 BRB founded Metaphysical Productions (MP), an independent production company based in Canberra. MP has hosted and sponsored many events in the capital city with a primary focus on community outreach. In addition to his own music career, BRB teaches Rhyme And Related Elements workshops (R.A.R.E. hip hop for short) and often co-hosts Australia's 'Definition Radio'.
Philosophical in approach to music, BRB uses Hip Hop to inspire, encourage and uplift his listeners. Thats what its all bout! Some highlights for me would be the raw, underground gigs I did with my old crew Metaphysical Combat - the crew's first live performance was our infamous garage gig! Other highlights would be Parliament House Canberra, Blackstump festival, kids camps in St. Petersburg Russia and touring in Finland... its all about the people & the vibe at the show yo..
