Retrace The Steps is a 3 piece rock/emo band located in southern New Jersey. It was founded around mid fall 2002 by two middle school kids, Don Cavanaugh and Nick Spinelli, who decided to go "jam" and hang out after school together. Eventually it became an everyday thing and they really loved it. Between sports, school, skateboarding and girls, they jammed off and on for about 2 years. Then around the Spring of 2004, Nick had discovered a producer that was looking to record some local bands out of his home studio in Mays Landing, NJ. Nick and Don jumped at the idea and recorded their first 3 song demo which to this day as been left unnamed. After this recording they set off to find more band members. After a few weeks they found a bass player, Justin Pineda, and after a month or two of practice all three of them sounded good together. Once they were ready, and with Don on vocals, they went back to the studio to record their 4 song EP "Just Let Go". They used one song off their 1st untitled demo which they named "Nothings Left". After making a profile on every band website they could find, and promoting like crazy they started to get some shows. Unfortunately 2 weeks before one of their shows, Retrace The Steps parted ways with bassist Justin Pineda. So they decided to bring in a long time friend of Nick's, Richard Berti. Now with the newly found bassist, Retrace The Steps is better than ever! They expect to go back to the studio to rerecord some of the old songs and record their new ones as well! We love playing live, as much as possible, all over the place, we basically will play anytime, anwhere because its so much fun. Our best moments would have to be the shows at middle schools. Those kids are great and very supportive.
