I am a guitarist who plays all kinds of music, but I felt that people who are into metal would apreciate my music the most. I am a high school student just looking to get some of my music out there.
Of course I play live. Mainly in central massachusetts, at the Indian Hill Music Center and also at my school, as I play oboe as well in the symphonic band.
Growing up, I was raised on old rock like the Allman Brothers, AC/DC, The Beatles and the like. As I grew older, I got into heavier stuff, and exclusively listened to Slipknot for 3 years (even though I dislike this band now, they were pretty heavy to a 4th grader). I started playing the guitar at age 13 and my influences eventually branched out, so now I listen to (and play) almost everything. I have extremely influencedby prog rock and metal (dream theater and Opeth are my favorite bands) but I also include jazz into my playing, as well as principles of classical harmony due to my initial training as an oboeist. Name a band and I more than likely listen to them. I pretty much like it all, except for a few genres which require no musical talent, skill, or development. These include Rap and its many terrible forms and also trance music. The following will be a working list that I will try to update reguraly since its impossible for me to remember all the artists that I like and have influenced my playing in one sitting, so keep looking.
Dream Theater,Pat Metheny,Dillenger Escape Plan, Pantera, John Coltrane, Black Sabbath, Dimmu Borgir, Mayhem, Children of Bodom, Arsis, Symphony X, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Behemoth, Shadows Fall, Opeth, Lamb of God, In Flames, Venom, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Deicide, At the Gates, Arch Enemy, Carcass, Between the Buried and Me, Napalm Death, Mastodon, Counting Crows, Testament, Death, Metallica, Yes, Rush, Iron Maiden, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Slayer, Mortician, Vader, Nile, Fear Factory, Stratovarius, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Porcupine Tree, Alex Skolnick Trio, Robert Johnson, Elvis,
I use a Crate 120 watt Blue Voodoo head(model name is BV-120H) with 6L6 power tubes. I use a crate POS cab, but I'm looking to upgrade it to a Mesa/Boogie cab with vintage 30 speakers. I rarely use effects, but I do own a wah pedal, a digitech RP100, and a boss os-2 overdrive.
