smooth vocals, driving guitars and a solid drumbeat define the sound of Canada's asphyxiate, with their first album recorded, they are now searching to expand their fanbase with the new sound, and are willing to do whatever it takes.
Band/artist history
taking a long time to define their sound, the group has slowly but surely gained a fanatically loyal fanbase. Started with Krogstad (vocals) and Grim (drums), bassist Mel (The Cyborg) and a guitarist started the band, but that didn't work out, so new guitarist Joke was added to the roster, Joke's driving guitar influenced by jazz was the perfect accompaniment to Krogstad's smooth vocal style and solid drumbeats of Grim, and combing this with the solid bass and occasional vocal parts by Mel add even more variety to the band.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We're working on securing more shows right now.
Your musical influences
Heavy metal bands are our influence, but we end up sounding a little like Papa Roach, or what would happen if Incubus killed themselves
What equipment do you use?
Joke uses an ibanez guitar, Mel uses an ibanez bass, Krogstad uses shure mikes (and an eastwood guitar on the occasional song), and Grim uses a vintage stewart kit
Anything else?
Asphyxiate wholeheartedly promotes Pizza Pizza pizza with garlic sauce, because we love it so goddamn much.
