Band/artist history
Southyrn Comfort is a six-piece rock band featuring the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Marshall Tucker, and other southern rock greats. This band consists of several seasoned veterans of the Boston music scene along side of some younger, but equally talented players, yielding a truly exciting and high energy sound. At a Southyrn Comfort show, you'll hear songs by .38 Special, Tom Petty, The Black Crowes, and many others. Up front is Chris Larsen on Lead Vocals. Chris' style allows him to belt out songs like Pride and Joy or Gimme Three Steps and then mellow it out on Simple Man or She Talks to Angels. Dan Cody and Tim Young handle the guitar chores, each playing with their own distinctive style. Tim's vintage Gibson Les Paul and tube amp sound will make you think you're at a Skynyrd show. Dan's a Fender man, and you may recognize Dan from his many years playing in several popular Boston and South Shore bands. You'll often see Dan adding to the mix by taking the mic to sing lead vocals on Tom Petty songs. Manning the keyboards is Gary Taccini, another Boston area musician who has played in many local club bands. Gary's strong piano and organ playing contribute greatly to Southyrn Comfort's sound. His B3 Hammond provides the texture to songs like Stormy Monday and Tuesday's Gone. Kevin Lewis is the quiet one holding down the bottom with his thumping bass lines while David Alan's drumming propels the rhythm section and lays down the pounding beats. Kevin and David always lay down a beat that gets you on your feet. Southyrn Comfort is a band to be reckoned with. They play music that gets people out of their seats and onto the dance floor. At every gig, Southyrn Comfort plays great tunes and knows how to keep the crowd involved. The band has a full sound system and is available for gigs throughout New England.
