It's simple: two long time musical collaborators and multi-instrumentalists decided to get the job done right and do it themselves. The band's mission statement, a 5-song alternative-to-alternative rock mini-epic EP was completed just as the lights went out on 2004. The Bee Sighed is currently taking Portland, OR (and then the world?) by storm. We've played two "secret" shows as a duo when we first formed in September. Emily Vidal recently joined the group on bass and vocals, and we played our first show at C Bar in SE Portland on July 8th, 2005. Playing live rules.

To describe all of our influences would either be exhaustive or too limiting, so here's a few: The Beatles, Modest Mouse, The Fiery Furnaces, Pavement, Paul Simon, The Pixies, Bob Dylan, Wilco, The Giraffes and PUSA, Schubert's Unfinished Symphony...and Brendan used to kind of like ABBA for a while
