I enjoy creating emotive and melodic compositions using extreme extended-range 7, 8, 9 and 10-string electric basses as the principal instruments. From sub-contra to delicate piccolo bass occasionally accompanied by synthesizers or effects and e-percussion to construct instrumental aural landscapes for focused listening or sonic backdrops. I am also able to perform with local bands playing Blues, Electric Blues, Blues-Rock, Rock, Progressive, Smooth, Americana when the opportunities present themselves. Thank you to all those who have listened, enjoyed and propelled the tunes to their place in the site statistics.
Band/artist history
Playing music is hard-wired into my existence. Whether solo or ensemble. I started playing acoustic guitar in my pre-teen years. Did a bit of rhythm electric guitar, but discovered bass guitar in the late 60s. I have played in many Rock and Blues/Rock bands from then until recently. I discovered extended range bass in the mid-late 90s. Evolution from that point has been my focus. My Voyage album was a first out 2-year personal adventure on the early 2000s. Heavily reliant upon multi-tracking for the finished product. For the future, circa 2021, after years of creating a singular extended range bass voice and compositions to bolster it, future efforts at recording and extrapolating on the roots planted with my first album effort hope to engage a listening audience that embraces a broad range of ambient, relaxation music.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes, I enjoy live performances...whether solo or ensemble. I particularly like it when artists can collaborate and through their musical chemistry, create extraordinary emotive pieces.
Your musical influences
Too many to list.
What equipment do you use?
Custom made extended range basses by Bill Conklin, Jerzy Drozd and Chris Stambaugh for my solo works, with the custom Conklin 7 being a go-to for ensemble works. Amplification and speaker systems are task-specific and are designed to be modular. I am able to cover a very wide variety of backline supported and otherwise combinations for my sound.
