Ellsworth is an acoustic-driven rock band that draws influence from modern Hawaiian, country blues, and folk music. They are comprised of an ukulele, guitar, bass, drums, organ, a 3-part harmony, and 2 lead singers.Band/artist history
Ellsworth formed in early 2001 in Perth, Australia when Davitt Felder (lead vocals/guitar) met Andrew Eads (bass) while studying abroad at the University of Western Australia. When the two returned to the U.S., they began playing music with their friend, Adam Alika Fell (vocals/ukulele). Soon thereafter, Ellsworth started playing in bars and clubs around the bay area. Their mix of acoustic rock, with influences from modern Hawaiian music, country blues, and folk was something altogether unique. No band has utilized an ukulele in an acoustic rock band quite like Ellsworth. The three friends built a large fan base- composed of fellow UC Berkeley Students. They played at Blakes on Telegraph, the Bears Lair, the Starry Plough, and many other venues. At the end of their time studying at UC Berkeley, the band compiled old and new songs to put together an album of demos called Summer Sessions.
In late 2003, Ellsworth relocated to Los Angeles and played multiple shows to packed audiences at The Cat Club, The Gig, The 14 Below, The Whisky, and The Roxy (under their old name, Sterling Highway).
In 2004, Ellsworth added talented percussionist David Schulz (vocals/drums) to the lineup. Together with Schulz, Ellsworth went back into the studio to record their debut self-titled album with Brian Hardin. Brian is an experienced engineer/producer who has worked with everyone from Garth Brooks and Quincy Jones to Ziggy Marley and Jack Black. The album will be independently released in the winter of 2004.
In September of 2004, Ellsworth was asked to join the Music For America and KnewWays.com VOICE YOUR CHOICE Pro-Vote Concert Tour and their song Fantasy was added to the KnewWays Records compilation CD that was distributed across swing states.Have you performed in front of an audience?Roxy, Whisky, Cat Club, Knitting Factory, Blake's, Newport Music Hall etc.- don't really like playing in Hollywood.
