Winterheart are a Power metal from south Wales. First formed by Lee and Alex, the band has now completed its line up, and is writing and learning new songs.
In the early months of 2004, the guitarist Lee left the Trash/death metal band 'Blackened soul', and decided to try and create his own band with his bass mate Alex. After trying a few different genres: death metal, black metal, Lee and Alex decided that they wanted to do a Power metal band, as they both preferred this genre. They began writing a set of power metal songs, the first being 'The unwritten chapter', but the biggest problem they had, was finding the right people to join there idea....
For a few months they searched, sticking up adverts in music shops, and spreading the word to friends in bands. But they still did nt have one other person than themselves. So they gave up on trying to find a singer, drummer and keyboardist, and they thought it would be easier to just go back to the death metal stuff, and just get a drummer.
They finally found their drummer 'Leo', and began work on there death metal band 'Evisceration', with Lee on guitars and vocals, Alex on bass, and Leo on drums.
Things seemed to be running smoothly, with 3 songs done within 2 practices, and getting better every week. But then, their friend Kayleigh (K), a grade 7 pianist, had a listen to some power metal and decided that she liked it. It was a new thing for Kayleigh, as she had never experienced the glory of
power metal, and she was new to the whole scene. She was asked if she would be willing to play keyboards in a Power metal band, and she accepted straight away. The band was going to be named 'Lemuria', but Alex came up with the name 'Winterheart', and we all agreed.
So once again, Lee and Alex decided to go back to the mighty Power metal songs, with Leo and Kayleigh right on board. They practiced for 2 - 3 weeks without vocals, getting better every time. They still needed one more person, but after discussing it with the band, Lee decided that he would do
the vocals, as it would be easier to find a guitarist opposed to finding a singer.
With a stroke of luck, a guitarist was recommended by a mate, and Lee gave Andrew a call and asked if he would be willing to try out for a Power metal band. As with Kayleigh, power metal was a brand new scene for him, but after listening to a few power metal bands, he was well up for it!
Now, in the present day, they are just getting things up to scratch, so they can be the best power metal band that they can be!
