ISABELLA BANNEKER is a 26-year old Washington, DC native who attended The Duke Ellington School of Arts in her early years. She honed her
writing, recording and performing skills while she was part of a duo named 2 Unique. The situation provided her the chance to work with a large variety of producers, including Djinji Brown of Seven Heads. Other opportunities soon followed. As an affiliate of a local artist workshop called Freestyle Union, Isabella learned about artistic discipline and integrity. When she expresses herself, it's difficult not to feel swept into her ability to weave words into a magnetic and interactive display that is reminiscent of old-school hip-hop. Her talents are often compared to Lauryn Hills in terms of impact and natural skill.
I consider myself an MC first, then a vocalist. I want to use my singing as more of a support for my messages," ISABELLA said modestly.
Rarely cursing, and always spilling lines filled with irony, wit and raw intelligence, fans and supporters became increasingly curious as to when she would do a project of her own. This demand eventually led her to record her first volume of work called THE UNTITLED COLLECTION.
THE UNTITLED COLLECTION represents ISABELLAs ongoing creative process and growth.
The rigors of conceiving the album helped to solidify her artistic identity. She also co-produced several of the tracks on the album.
Standout tracks include SaltCastles, Aurora, and Lil Christopher; all songs she personally arranged.
For 2005 Isabella plans to Rerelease THE UNTITLED COLLECTION.
