Emotion. Adrenaline. Raw Talent. Pure Anger. Energy. A 30-pack of Coors Light. The most unique group out of New Jersey in the past 20 years. Headed by Royn Doyn, Bobby G, and Bass Marc, the Derelicts combine groove and lunacy and pervert that NJ sound.
Formed in 2001 by Bobby G, Royn Doyn, & Bass Marc, the band was joined by Drummer E Rock Stevenson and his old lady, Maryann in January 2002. Hamilton appeared shortly afterward with his crafty guitar work.
We released our first album "The Derelicts" in early 2003. Mad Dog Lopez joined the band for our second album, "Loneliness & Pain" released in the fall of 2003.
The original lineup returned in Jan 2004 and released "Commercial $ound". A live album, "Lucky To Be Live" was released later that spring.
In February 2004, former Stone Pony stalwart "TP Man" joined the band on blues harp.
Sadly, E Rock passed away on July 8, 2004. His replacement, Scotty Newell joined the band for their next release, "Bennett Av" which came out August 1st 2004.
The band immediately returned to the studio after "Bennett Av", and embarked on recording sessions for what became their next album, "Phaded Fotographs". Also released at this time was our distasteful holiday single, "Seasons Beatings", sure to offend everyone regardless of religious beliefs.
Speculation had surrounded the new material recorded by the original incarnation of the band in early 2004, which was shelved by when changes in the lineup occurred. Bobby G gave a listen to the master tapes shortly after the release of "Phaded Fotographs", and decided to release the tapes marking the one year anniversary of recording them. "February And March" can be ordered now.
February 2005 saw the release of the band's DVD Private Thoughts. The heavily-edited footage showed a band very much in harmony with each other and on time despite the fact that Scotty broke his leg two days before filming. He played anyway, and his handicap can barely be picked up on while watching.
On March 23, 2005 Maryann passed away. It was even sadder still, because she had recently reunited with the band and contributed some great vocal tracks which adorn the band's next release, Electronic Noise.
Electronic Noise was released this past April Fool's Day with little notice or press. Bobby G and Bass Marc cut all of the instrumental tracks in one night and Royn Doyn and Maryann added their contributions a few days later. It is one of the band's finest, most polished albums to date.
Bass Marc moved to Florida in late April, shortly after the band began to record for their next album. Ricky D (front man from the local fav band 'Borialis') joined the band as the new riff man in Bass Marc's absence. Bass Marc did happen to come up for a private July 4th show, and managed to play bass on 8 of the 13 tracks for the new record, Mr. Musty. An EP single was also released for "Holdin On".
December of 2005 brought another distastful holiday gem, "Seasons Beatings 2". The cuts that were posted from that single became some of our most downloaded mp3's on this website.
Anticipation was mounting for our next release. It was a great shock when Royn Doyn passed away on March 13, 2006. Luckily he had participated in almost all of the cuts on what would become our next and possibly final album release, NJT, which was made available to the public on July 15, 2006 at midnite.
A collection of our early greatest hits, "Inappropriate Behavior", along with our other, newer releases can be purchased at our website.
We play at the Jersey Shore all the time. Contact Greenburn for bookings.
Beatles, The Doors, Springsteen, any group of winos yelling or wild animals mating.
Whatever works.
Royn Doyn calls everyone he doesn't know "Steve".
