Peter Mandic was born in Sydney, Australia and immigrated to Canada when he was twelve. Although he began playing guitar when he was a young teen, he only started writing songs six years ago as a result of a suggestion that he study songwriting at Canadas renowned music school, Humber College.
Peter is an active member of The Songwriters Association of Canada and has participated in many of their songwriting programs. Peters songs are about real life struggles and observations written in straightforward terms. Inspired by classic rock, alt. country and folk, Peters passion for writing songs with a story is becoming his trademark.
His first album was produced at Humber College after his second year of songwriting. It was mostly an experimental effort to capture the feeling of the time. Peters second album was produced by Toronto producer Sean Baillie at Electric Machine Recording Studios. It features eleven original songs including a haunting instrumental, which features Lisa MacIsaac on violin.
While Peter enjoys a fulltime job outside of the music industry, his passion for music has him spending every spare moment in his studio, writing and polishing songs for his third album due out in 2006. Although Peter is a relative novice to songwriting, he has made up for this by having an insatiable appetite for anything that will make him more knowledgeable about his craft. His next album will be dramatically different with a turn to a more organic sound.
These days he's playing in and around Toronto at open stage venues and getting reactions to his new songs.
I regularly play open stages in and around Toronto. Check out "Where's Peter" on my website. In January, I am booked to play several open-stages in Sydney, Australia. Can hardly wait!
