A jack of all trades and a master of none, but I like to think the bass playing is getting there.
My philosophy is that it's not what you play or how well you play it, just so long as you enjoy it.Band/artist history
Started playing piano at 11 and the rest is history. Many failed bands and unfinished projects litter the road thus far, but I've certainly accomplished more in the past 5 years than the past 20.Have you performed in front of an audience? Not my solo stuff, but I do play bass in Safety In Numbers. Playing original songs and what I can best describe as classic pub rock covers.
We play mainly around the New Forest area in the U.K.
Yes I like it a lot, once I've had a pint of Guiness to steady my nerves.
Best gig, 2003 at the Fountain Court Hotel in Hythe, as part of the Waterside Arts Festival. I still have one of our drummers broken sticks as proof we were rocking that night.
Your musical influences
Favouite band has to be Marillion, but I have a wide range of tastes from ambient and trance to rock, heavy rock, progressive rock, sticks of rock. Currently very much liking David Gilmours' On an Island and Marbles by Marillion. Other influences on the electronic side would be Tangerine Dream & Jean Michel Jarre. What equipment do you use?
Warwick Fortress Masterman 5 string fretless, Yamaha RBX 550M 4 string fretted bass guitars. A clapped out Hondo 2 Les Paul copy and a Aria 6 string acoustic.
Mainly run through an ART SGX Nightbass Preamp/FX.
Korg concert 3500 digital piano(mainly used as a master keyboard), Roland JV1080 and U220 rackmounts, an old Yamaha DX7, Kawai K3m and a Casio CZ3000.
I record using Steinbergs Cubase SX, using built in FX and VSTi plugins, in particular ModelE, Groove Agent, Gforces excellent M-Tron and Native Instruments B4.I think that's about it.Anything else?
I must send a huge thankyou to Emi, for the inspiration and the fact that I wouldn't be typing this if it wasn't for her.
