7 Seconds Late began in November of 2001 with Michael Keith, Corey Phillips and two acoustic guitars. As we began to write songs together we asked Andy Duke to join and play lead guitar. Once Andy joined the band Michael put down his acoustic guitar and picked up a bass guitar. We then asked Matt Thomas to join and play drums. Together, the four of us formed the acoustic rock/worship band 7 Seconds Late.
We played our first show in the spring of 2002 at Sunnyside Baptist Church. Since then we have been playing shows throughout the state of Georgia. On October 24th of 2003 we released our first 5 song EP to a full house at Christ Fellowship in Toccoa Georgia.
In early 2004 Andy left the band to follow God's calling and to pursue a ministry. At the same time God led our path to cross with Philip Council. Philip has played music most of his life and was thrilled to join us as our lead guitarist. Philip brings a great amount of talent to 7 Seconds Late and adds to our already individual sound.

Yes we do play live. Over the past 3 years we've played live at a number of places but our favorite places have to be Christ Fellowship in Toccoa, GA and Cool Springs United Methodist Church in Cleveland, GA. A special moment from Cool Springs had to be our first show when we were asked to play an encore at the end. We didn't have anything prepared so we played some worship songs and God took the set it was a really amazing moment for us. Our special moment at Christ Fellowship happened at our first show with Philip (our lead guitarist) we had a short acoustic worship set toward the end of our full set and the spirit of God fell on that youth room like I've never felt before. We are still talking about it today. We didn't even finish our set! It's amazing to think that God gave us the gifts to proclaim his name and lead worship, but at that moment even if all of our instruments stopped working we were still able to praise him. It was a peak moment for us as a band.
Corey's Musical Influences: Dave Matthews Band (My favorite band of all time), David Crowder* Band (the best Christian band out there), Switchfoot (another amazing band. They have taken Christian music into the mainstream), Trey Anastasio (the man is a musical genius). I'm basically a huge fan of anything that contains an acoustic guitar at the "core" of the band.
We have a full set-up that we take with us to shows. We are constantly updating and adding, but we are happy with what we have. If you want more details, e-mail us and we'll get them to you.
