Band/artist history
Formed in 2022 by key wind players from the Kanata Symphony. Gerry Stephenson, conductor Gerry Stephenson began his music career as a Clarinetist, studying in his hometown of Toronto at the Royal Conservatory. He attended Western University for both Music and Education degrees. A Master Diploma in Wind Ensemble Conducting was completed at the University of Calgary. Gerry played clarinet with many ensembles, including Symphony Nova Scotia, The New Brunswick Symphony and the Newfoundland Symphony. He conducted several high school ensembles and community concert bands. After 34 years of teaching in 3 provinces, Gerry began organic farming with great passion. Six years ago, he and his partner Susan decided to each pursue the bassoon. He and Sue moved to the Perth area in 2021. David Yensen, conductor David Yensen is a graduate of Western University and taught music for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board for over 28 years. He also spent time abroad, creating music programs and orchestras in places like Bratislava, Slovakia and Addis-Abada, Ethiopia. He plays horn with the Kanata Symphony, Parkdale Orchestra, Ottawa Chamber Orchestra, Ottawa Pops Orchestra and the Ottawa Community Concert Band, and still finds time to indulge in home construction and renovaton.
