He has a voice like a powerful wayward freight train that allows him to sing soulful country mixed with pure traditional roots & a lot of grit always putting 110% of himself in every song.
Band/artist history
Jason Copeland is a one of a kind talent in traditional/alternative country music. He was born in Houston,Texas the son of a award winning artist/songwriter.This allowed him to grow up in a home where music was always playing or people were stopping by jamming on guitars & other instruments. Jason made his first step at following in his fathers footsteps at age 5 when he begin singing bluegrass/southern gospel on occasion at local churches. He took yet another step at the age of 7 when he began learning to play guitar & drums. His efforts would come in handy a few years when a 11 year old Jason was recruited to play in his fathers band at a local bar when his lead guitar player failed to show up.This opportunity lead to several years playing guitar, bass, mandolin, backing vocals & even a short stint as drummer in heavy metal band. He made the decision at age 17 that music would be his help & formed his own 4 piece band with him doing vocals/rhythm guitar around Houston/Conroe Texas. Hed also began dabbling in song writing penning to 5 to 6 songs by age 19. His band had quickly developed a strong following, numerous sponsors & were approached by a man asking if they needed a manager. The band then found themselves in a studio recording a demo, but sadly the man they trusted as a manager left them with a pile of unpaid bills & studio fees. This event sadly caused friction in the group & led to it breaking up. Jason would spend the next few years traveling town to town with his guitar collecting life lessons along the way & harnessing the flame of inspiration that he found masked in struggles. He was just about to make the decision to pack up his instruments & return to Texas when he got the offer that would change his life. He was given an opportunity to perform in Branson Missouri playing tribute to his musical heroes & allowed him to open for Bill Anderson. The only next logical step for Jason was to relocate to Tennessee. He began doing showcases & writing sessions where people were quick to notice despite his quiet nature he would come alive when he had his guitar. A small local record label noticed him during one of his showcases & helped him record his first 6 song EP of original material. His music received airplay on several stations in the southeast & overseas in Germany/Netherlands/Australia. This allowed him to play larger venues & festivals as well as open for artists like John Michael Montgomery,The Charlie Daniels Band , Darryl Worley, Neil McCoy, Confederate Railroad, Sawyer Brown,Pam Tillis & Josh Turner. In the past few years hes suffered his share of struggles as well. He lost his instruments in a house fire then was injured in an auto accident on Fathers Day 2019. This led to him parting ways with record label in an attempt to focus more on his 2 children & family. He even used COVID shut downs & quarantine to his benefit. He used that time to study new technology & make sure his gear was ready to give him the best sound possible at live shows. It was also during this time he met a beautiful woman on the internet who encouraged him & occasionally helped him write songs helping him balance his music with his family.
