Hello, my name is Jay, and I am a third year wildlife biology student at South Dakota State University. I absolutely adore music though, and my favorite hobby is producing it.
I very recently began making my own music. About two months ago, I wrote my first piano piece, which is a very simple yet relaxing arrangement. Then maybe a month later, I wrote a song that I recorded into iMovie with my saxophone, piano, and percussion noises courtesy of me smacking stuff in my garage. I also did many covers using this same method. After those two experiments and my many Youtube covers, I realized I wanted to make "real" music, so I tried my hand at using GarageBand on MacOS. Now, I just released my first full electronic album, all made with GarageBand. I feel like I'm really getting the hang of music production now.
Yes I have, in high school. I played the lead roles of Danny Zuko (Grease) and Adult Simba (Lion King) in my high school musical productions. I absolutely love performing in front of an audience. Everything feels so authentic, and you get to see how the audience reacts live in front of your eyes. Naturally, I had a few solo numbers playing those roles, and it was quite fun to perform music in front of a live crowd. I have never really had issues performing in public. In addition, I was in both band and choir in high school, performing solos in both.
I would say my influences include all the EDM DJ giants we know. TheFatRat, Marshmello, Avicii, etc.
I simply use GarageBand with my MacBook Air. That's it! Unless you count my voice as a piece of equipment, since I have used that for some of my music. Also, who knows, maybe I will record my saxophone into some songs in the future.
I hope everyone enjoys my music, and maybe you can take some inspiration from it. My music goes to show that many people can make their own music if they set their mind to it!
