Driving Back Home To You
Written in 1999 recorded in 2012....just going through the archives looking for songs I forgot about.
Show all (45)
Hobbyist singer/songwriter/guitarist who's been quiet for 10 years. Decided to get the songs out there now. Had dreams of the big time, but know it isn't going to happen now and that's okay. I still love music, writing and recording and want to share my work with people.
Band/artist history
Been playing guitar as long as I remember. Think I was 6 when I started. Was shy about singing until my teens but now love to do it, and actually enjoy singing more than playing.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Many times. Hundreds of club gigs in the 90's/early 2000's. Never made any money at it but so it goes. Biggest gig ever was 2000 Festival of Nations, opening for major recording artist Michelle Wright who was huge at the time. In Canada anyway. 5000 in attendance.
Your musical influences
Bruce Cockburn, Joni Mitchell, Ian Thomas, Van Morrison, America, CSN(Y), Colin Hay, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Chris Rea, Brian Wilson, David Gilmour.
What equipment do you use?
Still using very old version of Cubase on a very old PC and am slowly but surely learning Logic Pro X on my iMac. Guitar wise, Fender DG-31SCE acoustic, Partscaster Strat, Lyx Pro Telecaster, Yamaha PSR-225 keyboard, Tascam TM-80 Condenser, Apex 435 Condenser, AKG c1000s Condenser, Tascam US 2X2 interface, Isotope Spire portable 8 track.
Anything else?
It's a new decade. Let's hope it gets better, and that live music will once again someday be something that is actually done in front of an audience not just a camera sending out a live stream. It's not the same and never will be. Not saying I do not accept it, but I do not have to like it. Maybe we will be able to go to concerts in 2022? Lets hope!

I was in a few bands' 'back in the day', as they say. I agree with Steve Weyman. We didn't travel huge distances but sometimes I do miss the thrill of playing with a band.
But boy, did we play in some dives.
A lovely sound to this song ... a very top quality sound. Wow.
I know this song quite well, but I must agree that this sounds better than Neil's original. Your voice suits it better.
Another great song. The acoustic guitar sounds as if it's in my room. The sound of it is so sweet and clear. Beautiful vocals. A perfect recording.
An absolute class above. This really is fabulous Brett. Such a beautiful sound quality to everything on this very memorable song. I agree with all these long standing Soundclick friends here. Welcome back.
And yes, "For a long time" another gem, well done, love the sweetness of the guitar playing too, keep it up my friend.
