My name is Tommy Wood and I was introduced to country music at an early age by cutting my teeth on my mom's wooden stereo cabinet. Being impatient one day I literary sunk my teeth right into the wood on that stereo cabinet. I wanted to hear some music.
My new single, I'll Stand For The Flag, reflects my personal faith and love for my country. Co-written with Nashville songwriter, Phillip David Harris, the song is a patriotic anthem that reveals the passion that all Americans can relate to.
Born and raised in Ruckersville VA, my musical seeds of faith and family were planted in rich, melodious soil, for a bountiful crop of country music. I have recorded 7 studio albums. My latest album, THIS COUNTRY LIFE, has been nominated for Album of the Year at The 2020 Josie Music Awards where I'm also nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year as well as Song of the Year for I'll Stand For The Flag. I've recorded the new album with top tier Nashville musicians including guitarist Bobby McKee (Craig Morgan, Tanya Tucker), bassist, Robby Meadows (Ben "Cooter" Jones), steel guitarist, Michael Douchette (George Jones, Rodney Atkins), drummer, Garth Justice (Nashville session player), and background singer, Heidi Jo Guthrie (Trace Adkins).
My music is full of lyrical twists mixed with thoroughbred twang.
I have performed hundreds of shows on the east coast and Midwest sharing the stage with many National acts.
My biggest influences come from Haggard and Jones to Daryle Singletary. My fans regard me as a Balladeer and Certified Down-home Country Singer.
I play a Taylor acoustic guitar plugged into a Ai ProTube acoustic preamp/di and sing through a Sure Beta 87A
I am married with 3 children. My family farm produces and supplies hay for local residents in his community.
