Free-range creative mostly writing in folk, acoustic, New Age, adult contemporary, electronica, experimental, and neoclassical styles with a smattering of World, pop, and "production library" veins. My music often manifests in shorter cue formats rather than full-length tracks.
Mostly self-taught, my initial experiences with music included the recorder at age 10 and variously expanded to piano, Celtic harp, and classical singing. However, composing has always been the strongest of my musical interests ever since a relative gifted me notation software as a teenager and inadvertently provoked a new obsession in the process.
As a teenager, I was very interested in writing in classical and scoring styles for years before expanding to other areas. I originally planned to try the classical vocal crossover path, but health reasons caused me to quit singing almost completely.
My current interests and preferences are deliberately broad as I have not yet found one single genre to wholly commit to in the 15+ years I've been writing. The day you realize that one of your biggest stumbling blocks has been ignoring ideas because they don't "fit" your previous projects is the day you start focusing on the music and its moods rather than your own perceptions of yourself.
A few group recitals with other people and one (very exhausting!) solo recital from my classical days, but I've never publicly performed my original music.
Enya, Tori Amos, Nightwish, Malukah, Karliene, Jesper Kyd, Howard Shore, Trevor Morris, Solas, Within Temptation, Inon Zur, and Harry Gregson-Williams for starters.
Most of my tracks are now made entirely digitally in Dorico and Audacity, with some occasional initial idea staging in Finale.
