Creatively obsessed music makers Melody Dante and Jesse Slingsby are all that make up the full-band sound of Grace Under Pressure. This duo blends that of a strong soprano voice and a rap-rocker to make music that can be loosely defined as duet indie-rock. Their songwriting isnt limited to one overall style as these two build their sound using the modern day technology of a midi keyboard, guitar (both electric and acoustic) and their voices. It is not uncommon to hear keyboard hooks, guitar solos, vocal harmonies and the occasional trumpet or harmonica. Their sound has been described as a mix of Evanescence, Linkin Park and Fleetwood Mac. Their interest in creativity doesnt stop at the music - having made videos for most of their musical releases, including a 6 part music video series modelled around their last EP Night Time Insanities which can be found on their website at www.gupmusic.com. With their newest stand-alone video Drowned being an introduction to a 100% DIY approach in film-making - there are many tricks up these two musicians sleeves and a lot of new content coming for 2017, including the rumour of a new album. Follow along every moment on their ever-active Instagram account @gupmusic or check out the blog on their website www.gupmusic.com/blog.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Our live format is a bit different than our recorded songs. We record as a full 4 to 10 piece ensemble at times but perform as two - usually a guitar, piano, a simple low end backtrack and our collective voices. It's more intimate for us.
