Gotta Make The Music
Slow tempo'd, smooth whispy melodies, mixed with heavy hitting kicker, steady rhythm, positive vibes.
My real name is Joel Beaudette. I was born and raised in Norfolk, NE, a small town of 30,000 about 2hrs north of Omaha, NE. As I grew up I began to take notice to all the music that surrounded me, and always found solace in locking myself away with my headphones and listening to the world through the expression of song. Music influences our culture, and culture influences music, so instead of watching any types of news media, I found the worlds current events and how we handled, and felt about these issues through the beacon of music. My younger me's as with many of you, travelled down many of the wrong paths in order to find my way, which we all still work on the daily to understand. I spent much of my time struggling paycheck to paycheck, or resale to resale, and ended up getting hit with a Class 3, 1-20, and truly felt the gravity. I lost interest and faith in myself and my abilities as a lyricist, and felt deep into depression. A lil while passed in my life and I began to write more while fighting the charges brought against me, and to my surprise my style completely changed. Not only my words but the overall delivery became more confident and balanced. I realized that when I spoke people began to LISTEN, and along with my daughters support and love for music, I felt it was selfish of me to squander any longer. So, I have become so deeply involved in the progression of where music is heading, that I am on a mission to see it keeps its integrity!!!!!! OverGround is more than art, it's more than music, it's more than a company, it's a movement of people all progressing forward into achieving there goals and aspirations.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes I do. Anywhere and anytime I am requested. It's a love hate relationship. I love the nature of communication through song, and relating with perfect strangers. The ability to move a crowd is an amazing feeling, but there is also something almost unnatural about the entertainment aspect of performing. Standing on the stage also makes me feel elevated above the rest of the society within the venue, and that shit just doesn't feel right.
