Forget middle-of-the-road rock that toes the mainstream line trying to satisfy people in suits with fat cigars. TRACK4, the crossover heavy rock group storming its way up the charts is not for the faint of heart. And this year, it is only getting louder and heavier.
With its in-your-face sound and energetic live shows that aren’t for those with cardiac problems, TRACK4 won’t be dictated to. It is blazing its own path between hip-hop and rapcore, with nu school type rock melodies.
The group is destroying musical convention, gathering an army of supporters and taking the world by storm.
“We’re through trying to please the mainstream,” says vocalist DE. “It hasn't done anything for us, we're doing our music the way WE want to do it. There’s no toning us down this time we’re only getting louder and heavier.”
TRACK 4, with DE on vocals, Frankie on guitar, Nick on bass and Mike on drums, has built its foundation with a successful club record and is now planning to unleash a CD later this year that sets the tone for the next phase in the group’s revolution.
The group finished building its platform last year. “Hands Down” was voted the best song of 2003 on SAMp3. “Drop and Roll” held the top spot on the NightZoo real time chart for several weeks. Two TRACK4 songs appeared on compilation rock CDs and songs wowed listeners on 5FM, Radiosondergrense and UCT Radio.
But that was kindergarten compared to this year. TRACK4 is going for the jugular and taking no prisoners. “We have a whole new formula on how we’re approaching things and it’s going to work,” says DE. “We’re hitting it harder and bigger than ever this year.”
