I have played live in various places over the years but I don't do it often. I used to play in a folk/rock band playing rhythm guitar and singing way back when. I've played piano and sung in restaurants, hotels and lounges in New York, Las Vegas, Colorado, Maryland, Germany, and Korea. I played guitar and organ at weddings but mainly, I just like to play for friends and family.
I'm a child of the 1960's so you can imagine how growing up with the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and all the great rock & roll bands had a great impact on me. Later influences include the pop and soft folk rock of the 70s including John Denver, Elton John, Billy Joel, The Moody Blues, etc. I've come to love the Big Band / Swing era recording artists and vocalists. I also love classical music (but not opera) particularly the Classical and Romantic periods. I admire virtuosity in musical performance in any genre.
I play a circa-1910 Beckwith Upright Piano. For recording, I have a Casio Privia PX-350 midi piano, a Martin acoustic guitar, one MXL and one Shure SM58 mics for vocals. I use an Alesis io2 audio interface, and a Zoom H4N special aplications. I use PGMusic Band-in-a-Box software for arranging and RealBand for mixing.
When performing, I'll play any keyboard on hand and hope for the best.
