The inspiration behind the music of Frequency lies in TV and film themes from the 1970’s, 1980’s and early 1990’s. In our opinion, the early use of synthesizers in TV programme themes set an all time high standard in originality and melody - with occasional exceptions! Frequency are a co-operative of musicians combining forces to recreate some new and retro sounds and themes for TV & film use. All five members freely interlace their solo and combined music writing talents, whilst moving freely around the Frequency domain. The result so far is 14 albums of electronic synthesizer instrumental music. For all members, Frequency is an enjoyable hobby. As Frequency, we pay tribute to the composers and artists of TV & film work, and hope to follow in their footsteps.
Band/artist history
Frequency were formed on Friday 19th August 1994, by Jason Tilsely (JayT) and Mark Plant in their home village of Norton-in-the-Moors, Stoke on Trent, England. Our aim was to compile a 4 track EP cassette, but this rapidly grew into a full album and became our first release 'Rezolution' back in '95. Keyboard pleyer Phil Evans joined in lthe summer of 1996. We had a purple patch durin 1996-7 and produced a selection of albums in quick succession. In the autumn of 1997 things slowed considerably, and due to personal pressures we took a two week break, which lasted for much longer. Mark and JayT are still actively working on nw material, with the next release expected in August 2024, to celebrate 30 Years of Frequency.
