Safe and Sound

Alternative General

At five months, a heart transplant. At twelve years, heart failure and a second transplant. At nineteen, stage four cancer. And that's not the half of it. Discover music that embraces love despite hardship, joy over pain and peace amidst chaos. Each song I write comes from a well of memories and emotion deep inside me, spurred by the events, people, and music that have inspired me the most. I started playing violin and piano in elementary school, and by middle school I was composing, performing and recording my own simple songs. Ever since, I've had an undying love affair with the world of sounds. Now, at nineteen years old, I offer a few of my songs to you. They're not professional, they're not perfect - they're simply me; Morgan Nicole. Take it or leave it.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I play around campfires and in friends' homes, and I've played a few times in talent shows. I really like playing for small groups because there's no pressure. You know everyone's just there to listen and have a good time. Currently my live performances are on hiatus due to the effects of chemotherapy, but I hope to be back on the horse by late next year.
Your musical influences
I do my best to emulate artists like Björk, Thom Yorke, and Sinead O'Connor. I've been told I sound like Dido, which is truly an honor. Honestly, my musical influences are a collectioin of every song and sound I've ever heard - from Beethoven to Marilyn Manson to Micachu. It's all amazing.
What equipment do you use?
Whatever I can afford.
