Hard Rock

Heavy groove That is how Eyes Like 20, generally describes their music. Hard and heavy alternative rock with a prominent groove is the dominating characteristic behind their music. Based out of Birmingham, Alabama, they have recorded their first full length album, entitled Magicicada, and are backing it up by performing wherever the tide carries them. We want this album to rattle your bones, is how Richey Boyd (guitar) describes the impact he hopes the album will have on listeners. When we opened their submission email, it was like hard rock angels had graced our office is how Rock Revolt Magazine described their music. Magicicada could be described as an album twenty years in the making. The band first formed while 3 of the 5 band members were in college. The cliché band problems happened, they went their separate ways, and reunited 17 years later to try again, older and wiser. A lot of things happen to people in 17 years and all of it comes out in the music Eyes Like 20 writes: happiness, anger, sadness, loss, elation, disappointment, its all in there. Just like the cicada takes 17 years to mature and emerge, so goes the story of Eyes Like 20, is how Jonathan Lucas (vocals) describes both the story of the band and the inspiration behind the albums title. The album was entirely self-funded and self-produced by the members of Eyes Like 20 with the help of recording engineer Bradley Timko of Avondale Sound and mastering engineer Jason Elgin of Synchromesh Studio. All recording, mixing, and mastering were done in the bands hometown of Birmingham, Alabama.
