Born in Camden and raised in the Philadelphia area most of his life, Dirahn "Knocomp" Gilliams is a multi-talented/multi-task machine. Creating concepts, writing songs, composing music, sampling my own recordings, drafting contracts and Co-publishing as well. But, for the most part just sticks to production in music and videos. Knocomp got his official industry start in music as a project manager at 18 under Respect Management/Philadub Productions which would be a long distance managerial step due to going to college in Savannah. After two years I was getting the gist of the developmental stages of the industry. The group FamValu broke up after two years due to creative differences. I then took on the task of shopping tracks through Respect Management, Focus Management, and Cha-Ching Records. While also getting in touch with local radio host/DJs in late 2006. His tracks were received with such high energy that Poe Boy Music(Brisco/Flo Rida) had its artist try to procure a production deal in early 2007. By July 2007 he had a placement on of David Banner's, "Greatest Story Ever Told" with the second lead single, "Get Like Me". One year later he had scene his first Billboard top 20 hit charting at #16 and #2 on Billboard Hip-Hop Rap Songs with over 1 million sales by November 2008. He went further in the next year by investing in producer Kenneth "K-Luck" Luck and his upcoming projects including songs by Ryan Banks "Move Over" feat. Peedi Crakk and Gillie da Kid. In 2010 he signed on to GreenTeam Records to be in house producer for one year performing tasks such as booking studio time and remixes for rap artist Azizz.
Knocomp - comes from an initial fact that anyone who knows him will say, "He's well versed and knowledgeable" Kno and is very competitive when it comes to challenging situations
When Knocomp started doing this whole music thing it wasn't with the intention of gaining any worldwide notoriety or fame. He just wanted to create some music as strong as the Classical composers and Pop Music producers. He learned through years of exposure how to procure an ear for a hit and spontaneous trend. He started doing the whole playing piano thing at four by ear, then was schooled at five, and by eight was playing in a youth church choirs which he did for the next four years. As he outgrew teachers and improved on playing performance he was monitored and ranked third in his skill level by the Guild of Music for the state of New Jersey at age 12. As time went on and he went on to get bookings for graduations and recitals until fifteen. More or less he wanted the success without the hype though. Something people could enjoy like they did everything else. Another goal of his was to Act on the side. When the he couldn't figure out the process of getting a good agent representation to sign on for Broadway productions at Merriam Theatre he turned down the two $15,000.00 gigs at age twelve and took a break from acting until he could find proper representation. To understand the business better he preferred to live life working behind the scenes, you know, be the guy making things happen that you had to read to know about or know somebody to who would tell you about them.
