Its just me, one person, but I played guitar and goofed around alot as a teenager. Started using softsynths and other music software in 2001. Although my guitar playing hasn't improved much, I became obsessed with making electronic music and have been making albums ever since.
My songs are carefully crafted on a desktop computer, so I'm currently not taking it live. I still want to join up with a band sometime though, just to jam.
Some of my favorite music has very little influence on how I make my own music. For example, my favorite band is Tool, but they play rock, and they play live. I compose most of my music on a computer, so theres not much influence there. And although I expose myself to a variety of electronic acts also, I don't feel like I really sound that much like any of them either. I'm currently listening to alot of baroque and classical music, because I like the way all the different little parts come together, but obviously, I'm not that.
PC, stereo rig, midi controller, Reason, Goldwave, Acid, guitars, pedals, amps, electronic drum set, I sold my bass, have some mics laying around, books are always a huge help.
