Young, talented, and straight out of Columbia, South Carolina who better to introduce the new generation of hip hop than LaQuan Kennerly better known as Classy Cru. Born on July 29, 1993 in Laurens, SC this 18 year old graduate of Dutch Fork High School is definitely turning heads and opening ears. With his own original flow, creative hooks, and appealing swagger he's bound to hit the peak of the charts in time to come. "It went from a dream, to a hobby, to a reality," Cru states. With hits like "Classy" and "Dirty Dirty" he's certainly stepped his foot in the door of success. "I'm still warming up," Cru says smiling. "I'm not a professional but you can't really tell so the best is yet to come." "I don't want to be like nobody I just want to surpass expectations." Cru claims a group called Circle Boys. "We not a clique, set, gang, we're a family." Linking up with locals like Monsta and out of towners like Rawn from Jacksonville his network breach has touched bases around the south. If you haven't heard him yet then apparently you're just not listening hard enough. "God gave me my talent, my cousin gave me my name, and I trust both their judgments." A artist at heart and an icon in the making, with no mother or father, we'll see how far his pen and pad and gift get him in life. Not to mention he fits well in both rap and r&b genres with his compelling voice, it's only right that he's called Classy.Band/artist history
Not too much history as an artist really. I just stuck my foot in the door and took a peep in. Just being young and have gone thru the things I have I felt that my story should be heard by the world. What better way to do that than be a rap artist. I've always been a good writer of poems, essays, and fictional stories so I tried writing lyrics and it came just as easy as anything else like second nature. Took some classes, delivery, creativity, influence just got better and better over time and still progressing so my past or history is all in the music now. I never liked talking about my problems. My folks made me see 2 different therapists ain't either one help really. I sort of found a sense of freedom by simply writing my thoughts on paper however it came out. And even thought I'm not a major artist yet I already feel like I'm making history.Have you performed in front of an audience? No not really. I got to perform at my school's homecoming pep rally last year and I did a show for the yearbook signing party and I opened up for Kirko Bangz once but nobody was there really. Moments like those taught me a lot though like how to prepare for a show and always give it your all no matter who looking or not, so the learning experience I got from it was the best part.
