I am a composer. I don't want to write music that patronises the listener by stultifying their ability to engage with art.
I have done, but to be honest I don't really like it; It involves alot carrying.
More often than not people don't *really* listen. You're just giving the audience the chance to fulfill their 'I'm an independant thinker who says they like "new music"' role.
This romanticised idea of the 'live atmosphere' means nothing when you're getting pushed around by other 'fans' and the band just recreates exactly what is available on the recording... only now drowned out by mindless 'audience approval'.
