Questioner is a metal band from Baltimore, MD formed by the members of the late "Isthmus." Isthmus was formed in 2005 by guitarist/vocalist Noel Mueller, and drummer Chris May. Guitarist Matt Hogans completed the trio in 2007, and bassist Joe Kienle played and toured with the band in 2008. Among other attempts at description, they have compared to recent acts, Mastodon, Russian Circles, Intronaut, and Neurosis.
In the Spring of 2008, Isthmus entered the studio to record their "synonymous" debut album “Land Bridge.” Although described as "mathy and technical, while "haunting and abstract," reviewers deemed it a "surprisingly mature and well-arranged record".
In 2010, the band has adopted not only a new name but also new vocal styles, a switch to harmonized baritone and 7-string guitars, and a denser and more complex rhythm section. The self-titled album, "Questioner," is in post-production for a Summer 2010 release.
Questioner has shared the stage with a handful of critically acclaimed acts while touring the East Coast, and in their home town of Baltimore, including: Behold... The Arctopus, Rosetta, East of the Wall, Balboa, Dysrhythmia, Jucifer, Conifer, Lesbian, Khann, Salome, Wooly Mammoth, Admiral Browning, and many more.
