THE BEST LIVE BAND GOING Since its creation in 1998, Old No. 8 has taken its balls-out, whiskey-soaked brand of rock across America with no apologies. Mixing scorching guitar, soulful harmonica, and rich four-part harmonies with tasty lap steel and a country-fried rhythm section that drives this quintet like a runaway freight train, Old No. 8 has built a large, loyal following that comes out in force to listen, to dance and to drink. Combining the talents of five songwriters, Old No.8's live shows are at once both cohesive and unpredictable. With more than 100 original songs and a huge grab bag of covers in its repertoire, the band has yet to play the same set twice.

Mixing scorching guitar, soulful harmonica, and rich harmonies with tasty lap steel and a country-fried rhythm section that drives this quintet like a runaway freight train, Old No. 8 has built a large, loyal following that comes out in force to listen, to dance and to drink. Combining talents of five songwriters, Old No.8's live shows are both cohesive and unpredictable. With more than 100 originals and a huge grab bag of covers in its repertoire, the band has yet to play the same set twice. July 4th, 2003, the band independently released Double Barrel, a blazing 2cd live set recorded in Chicago on 24-track ADAT. Mixed to tape with the help of Jay Bennett, the album features new material, reworked favorites, and of course, tons of the brutally intense jamming that Old No. 8 fans love. The heart-wrenching Frozen Roses, cleverly biting End Of The World, inflammatory All Our Leaders, and the out-of-control 20-minute Cmon Lets Do Some Blow medley capture the many facets of Old No.8s incredible live show. Earlier in 2003, Old No. 8 contributed a rocking version of Indiana Road to The Songs of Fred Eaglesmith, a tribute compilation released by Twangoff Records. Dead Man's Hand, Old No. 8s first full-length studio album, was recorded at Rax Trax in Chicago in the spring of 2000. Self-produced and independently promoted, it immediately commanded the attention of the local and regional music industry. The 12-song album showcases the band's collective songwriting appeal while maintaining the raw energy that has captivated live audiences for years. Since 2000, Old No. 8 has performed more than 350 shows throughout the country. When they're not on the road, the boys stomping ground is Chicago, where they exercise their chops at finer boozing establishments such as the Abbey Pub, the Bottom Lounge, Boulevard Cafe, Double Door, Martyrs', and the Metro.
