Band/artist history
This all started as an experiment. The first thing I am is a singer. I used to sing in a vocal (a cappella) band back in college. That's when I began writing and arranging music. I've been playing piano since I was 7 years old, so that was my writing tool. Years later I was given a couple computer programs as gifts. These programs were Cakewalk Music Creator and Fruity Loops. To this day I am still using these two programs, same old versions! I played around with these programs for awhile, and as I started to figure things out, songs basically materialized through this "playtime." The more I figured out, the more I wrote. Then I kept going back and revising things until I got the sounds I wanted. "Drift" is what came from these experiments. After that, all I needed was a name. See above. ;)
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Nah, I have neither the time nor equipment to play out. Five kids and only a Keyboard, PC and mixer to work with. You know how it goes. Maybe.
Your musical influences
When I first started on this, my influences were as follows: Lunatic Calm, Liz Story, Nuspirit Helsinki, the Underwolves, the Prodigy, George Winston, Dream Theater, Everything but the Girl, Jim Brickman But time goes on and tastes change, and new interests emerge. To that list I would now add: Celldweller, Shapeshifter, Keiko Matsui, Imogen Heap, Bjork, An Endless Sporadic, Omni Trio, High Contrast I'm sure my more recent work will reflect that.
What equipment do you use?
Like I said, a PC, a Yamaha PSR-225 (simple, yet effective), and a small Behringer mixer.
Anything else?
I just hope people finally get a chance to hear my music and enjoy it. I've been hiding it for too long.
