Gravity Quiet

By late Solar Autumn 2158, almost all the Terran colonists on Antare had migrated to the deep Melovian valleys. The effects of the inter-alien war had forced many off-planet species to re-locate to a desolate place called Human city.

As the dark Antarian winds danced around us, the Sky Streamers began arriving in the assault ships. Coming not to harm, but to shield and protect us. Alien Airborne, the best of the Grays.

The grace and speed of these flying soldiers was almost beyond description. Unlike parachutes, they flew on small metallic astro-gliders. The Antarian warriors referred to this flight as 'Streaming The Low Sky', a delicate and mastered decent.

From the North we were distracted by another set of ships. Cold, menacing battlecraft. Cevarian Intruders soon began firing. Just above me, I watched an Antarian ship dive just Prior To Impact.

After the impact, I expected the craft to separate and explode. Instead, the alien pilots executed an incredible maneuver. As if Climbing Through A Fall, with a ballet of thrusters that leveled the crippled ship.

As the injured soldiers began floating towards us, we scrambled to bring aid to them. Our medical workers, trained to care for Antarian Grays, were reminded of the fragile alien anatomy. This species to survive, must have Two Hearts Breathing.

The battle raged for hours both overhead and in the distance. The Antarians began to engage their holographic weapons, equipped to generate a Simulated Reflection. Absolutely confusing to the enemy, who then wasted their best weapons upon phantoms.

Two Cevarian Invader craft approached low from the west. Two Antarian fighters swept overhead straight for them. At once, the fighters engaged with their guided ordinance. With vicious stealth the rockets produced an Immacualte Disintegration.

In the aftermath we came to know that this had been a decisive battle. The war was now over. After the Cevarian surrender, most of the surviving Terrans would choose to return home to Earth. Within a few weeks, the giant transports began arriving.

During the entire trip from Tau Ceti to Earth, I was overcome with thoughts of Antare, deep dreams of my times there and the haunting ghosts of Antarians I came to know and love.

In warm reflection, I remembered what one Antarian had passed on to me. Each living thing was simply an Excerpt From Forever. An important piece of the overall and extending universe. Death was only a transition from the physical to the spiritual.

Just as Terrans, Antarians believe that when you go through a destructive phase, one becomes less than before, but stronger from the event. You are One Shade Transparent. Like my time on Tau Ceti 4, but my heart and my soul had survived.
