Ars Nova (US)
Ars Nova came into being November 2007, only two days before our first show. We are a rock band. Pure and simple. If you like to complicate it, you can say we're "Alternative". If you want to make one more stipulation, you may say Indie. It's about the music, not the label, and that's what this is all about. The Ars Nova hopes to rewrite the ideas behind music and to propagate the truth that music is not for entertainment, but for the soul.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
So there was a band, not so long ago, known as The Blind Swimmers (www.myspace.com/theblindswimmers). After the band split up, I, John Cathey was left alone; a lonely music student out at Truett-McConnell college. Then, suddenly one night I found myself jamming with two of my good friends, out on a rock under the stars, in the back yard of another of my friends house. I knew then that something had to come together. Through slight line up changes, and a little of this and that, "the" Ars Nova was born (use of quotations on "the" copyright Shaun Hughes 2007). Here we are.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We have played several live shows and love to do it. Hope to continue playing live and to get to play more often and larger places.
Your musical influences
We are influenced by Radiohead, Dylan, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Kinks, Elliot Smith, David Bowie, and many more.
What equipment do you use?
A large variety of equipment. Whatever we have or can find.
