Armed And Dangerous(USA)
Thanks for checking out our mp3 site! Armed & Dangerous is an Underground Hard Rock/Heavy Metal/Punk styled band built on the foundation of the great 80's Hair/Metal/Sleaze bands that we grew up listening to. We think we add an edge that makes us still viable today. But, unlike the bands we grew up on, I think we've always had more attitude and drive than actual talent! That's definately kept us from being a mainstream act.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The "Official" original members of Armed & Dangerous are Shannon Champion(vocals), Dirty Dog Walling(drums), Randy Randell(guitar) and Dee Adman(bass). We recorded our first demo together in June of 1988. We landed our first recording contract with independent label Full Moon Records in May of 1989. Our first album,"The Calm Before The Storm", a full lenth concept album, was released in June of 1990. It received quite a bit of airplay on college stations in the Midwest. We also had a mention on MTV'S" Up And Coming Bands To Watch". In 1991, the label folded and so did our record deal. The band members spent most of the 90's doing other projects. In Oct.2001 we reformed the band with 3 of the 4 original members and a new bass player, for the live shows, Jay Thompson. Today,we consider ourselves a new band, with a past. We have all grown as musicians and our sound today is heavier and much more edgy, but you can still hear the influences of the genre of bands we grew up on. I love the new music we're creating, but I REALLY LOVE the way we play the old songs!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes. We mostly play around our home base of Nashville,Tn. and the surrounding region when we do our own shows. In 2003 & 2004 we had the privilege of opening several shows for Ron Keel and his band Iron Horse, as well as some of Ron's solo shows. That was a dream come true for me because Ron is one of my all-time heros and, I think, one of the best Metal vocalists ever. But he's actually a great singer period. He can do any style and do it well. Opening for him helped expose us to people in other areas of the country. It was a great learning experience. The most special moments were when he would call me up on stage to help sing "The Right To Rock". And the times he and his band would jump on stage with us and jam to one of our songs!
Your musical influences
Kiss, Motley Crue, Keel, Black n Blue, Poison, Quiet Riot, DIO, Ramones, Joan Jett, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth. Really all 80's metal bands from glam to thrash to punk! Although, we don't sound exactly like any of them, they certainly have had an influence on us.
