Band/artist history
Ariakan was formed in February 2003 under the name, Perpetual Silence. Perpetual Silence performed shows throughout the month of May. In early June, they decided to take a new direction in their music. Perpetual Silence parted ways with their vocalist and became Ariakan. Ariakan was formed from the ashes of three of CTs Progressive Rock/Metal bands, Paradigm Shift, Khasm, and Synphony. All three bands performed throughout the Northeast. Some members of the band are instructors of their respective instruments, and have trained in classical and jazz music. Ariakan blends these influences into their theatrical Metal assault, causing a new breed of Metal to be born. Ariakan is a Metal band in the vein of Devin Townsend, Symphony X, Nevermore, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Iced Earth, Tool, and many more. Although Ariakan is proud of their influences, they do not try to mimic their sound. They instead absorb the inspiration needed to create a new mix of Metal, progressive rock, fusion, and atmosphere. Ariakan and members of Ariakan have performed with Nightwish, Symphony X, Testament, Lacuna Coil, Moonspell, Overkill, Dixie Dregs, Bile, Saigon Kick, Jackyl, Soil, and many other national acts. Rather than getting the typical screamer for a local Metal band, Ariakan chose to have a well-trained vocalist with powerful, awe-inspiring pipes. We called on ex-Synphony vocalist, Ryan Bair, who sports a 3 to 4-octave range. Ariakan is also in the process of recording their debut album at Angel Thorne Productions with producer/engineer, Rob Thorne(Soundscape, Sacred Oath, Thorne, Rock Mass). Ariakan is going to prove that Metal is still alive and well. TO WAR, WE RIDE!
