Aquavibe
Aquavibe is the answer to the burning question recently spreading through the music industry - What is Mix-Hop? This genre-morphing tribe made up of some of music's strongest elements bring a brand new mix to the table, inciting an all-new "People's Groovement". Cop the rhythm-Izm...
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Aquavibe is a true collaboration in every sense, including musical styles, personalities, and backgrounds. Aquavibe remixes sound into undeniable hit songs, creating a unique, yet universally enjoyable, listening experience. Aquavibe's "Mix-Hop" is the essence of future music, yet it is a throw-back in the sense of being an actual self-contained "band". Lead by composer/singer D1, the group's depth of talent is illustrated vividly in their high-energy, live performances.
In 2004, Aquavibes enormous potential started to attract mainstream attention. Their distinct style and hit tracks earned the band a spot in Playboys first-ever video game, Playboy: The Mansion, released in January 2005 on Xbox, PS2, and PC. Three of the bands songs are featured in the game, and the band members appear as characters in the Sims-type role-playing simulation. As a follow-up, in May 2005 Aquavibe was invited to headline a performance at the actual Playboy Mansion for the 2005 E3 convention. Also, last year, the band was selected as finalists in CMJ's Five-Borough Battle of the Bands and in W3G Entertainment Group's 2004 M.E.T.R.O Search, and the band made its first appearance in the annual CMJ Music Marathon. Aquavibe's music is also being used on Goldmic.com's first "Best of Goldmic" compilation CD and Jagermeister's 2005 Buzz Band Search CD. On their 2004 debut album, the band collaborated with DJ Excess, the ITF 2000 Scratch Champion, on L.U.S.T.. The album was designated Editor's Pick in both the Alternative Hip Hop and Contemporary Urban categories by www.cdbaby.com.
Aquavibe began in 1997 in Staten Island, NY with high school friends D1 and Bounce, both of whom excel at multiple instruments. After about a year and several lineup changes, they recruited D'Lee, a former bandmate from their high school days to play guitar. As the breadth of the groups' musical appreciation grew through rock to electronica to hip hop, they recruited two of the Island's most well-known emcee's - Dyverse the 1st (formerly of Jungle Nils) and ParaDox (formerly of Phokuss and M.E.N.). K2 (a national BMX champion) who handles both drum and keyboard duties and turntable wiz DJ Pez-D, rounded out the group in May 03 and November 04, respectively.
Aquavibe's universal sound has an intrinsic ability to bring different people to the same "place" (just like the members themselves). This new Peoples Groovement has something for everybody, appealing to a much broader audience than the average artist/band. It is as contagious as it is addictive. Aquavibe has performed at such prestigious venues as The Playboy Mansion, The Knitting Factory, North Six, Southpaw, Asser Levy Amphitheater in Coney Island, The Stone Pony, and The Cutting Room. Aquavibe has amassed a fanbase throughout NYC Tri-State Area and is now spreading the Groovement globally. With international fan sites and international sales to five different continents, Aquavibe is set to reach out and change the landscape of music as we know it.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We're based out of New York City, but we play all over. This past May, we headlined a show at the Playboy Mansion in L.A. for the E3 convention. (Three of our songs are also featured on the Playboy: The Mansion video game on XBox, PS2, and PC.)

What is Mix-Hop?
AQUAVIBE is Mix Hop. The sound is a melody-based Hip-Hop incorporating live instrumentation and turntablism - a "band-based" urban pop mixture. It blends genres and surpasses the typical labels of current music catagorization, demonstrating what a successful collaborative effort of individuals from different "schools" can achieve.
