AP Funkanomics

AP Funkanomics has been around since Mid-March 2004. When we first started, we weren't really thinking about becoming a band, we just wanted to rock out at Junior Exhibition, a show our school puts on for Juniors. After much debate on what the name of our group was going to be, we came up with AP Funkanomics. Our original name was going to be Funk In A... There are many reasons why we had to change it. No biggie. A few months after the show, we got back together at the high school's music room to record a couple of songs (Punk Funk, and Chameleon). Punk Funk was written by Erik Rae, and we just did our own version (cover) of Chameleon. They both turned out really nice, the quality, and solos, and everything.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Just check out the first part, you'll find it there... to summarize: In Mid-March of 2004, all five members, Corey, Erik, Sean, Scott, and Chad grouped to rock the show at our Junior Ex. Since then, we've recorded a few songs, originals and not originals :) We are working on writing some new songs for your pleasure.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We've only seriously played at our school's Junior Ex, but we've gotten together a few times since to rock out a little, do some recording or whatever.
Your musical influences
We take influence from nearly every great rocker from Jaco Pastorius to Steve Vai to Miles Davis to Jay Jay Johnson to Incubus to Wayne Shorter to Joe Zawinul and a whole lot more. We take our jazz, and rub a little rock guitar onto it, and a cool bass line. We've dubbed it "Punk Funk".
What equipment do you use?
I'm just going to name the band members, and tell what they play. Corey Michaud - Electric Guitar Erik Rae - Tenor and Bass trombone Sean Tomilson - Drums Scott Jordan - The Low End... Electric Bass Chad Szylvian - Piano
Anything else?
This is funk-in-a-mazing :o)
