Anneke's Star
Canadian Artists
Anneke's Star has been described as having the edge of Ani Difranco combined with the sweetness of Tori Amos.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Christine, Heather and Anneke are three sisters who make up the band Anneke's Star.
These singer/songwriters have been seen across Southern Ontario, Quebec, and Detroit area stages for about five years. The sisters have had a very musical upbringing with professional musicians on both sides of their family, and have been singing together for as long as they can remember.
Their music sits most comfortably in the folk/rock genre, siting influences from Tori Amos, Ani Difranco and the Indigo Girls. All three girls sing, weaving sweet harmonies through insightful and poetic lyrics, backed by Annekes piano, Heathers guitar and Christines percussion.
Annekes Star has released three full length live recordings, as well as a studio demo. They have shared a stage with Emm Gryner, Nelly Furtado, Teagan and Sarah and Platinum Blonde. The bands focus now is to record a full length studio album and expand their Canadian fan base with a tour in the early fall of 2003.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
