With a new day come a new sound. A mix of R&B and Hip-Hop with a flair for the raunchy, introducing, Anita Blunt. Singing since the age of 3, this vocally trained 27 year old is proving that "you don't have to be slutty to make hot music." After disappearing off the music map for 10 years, Anita is now breaking out with a new sound, new material, and new collaborations. "Working with so many different artists has given me the opportunity to branch out and finally find the style that I'm most comfortable with," she has said. If you're into Rap, Hip-Hop or the more romantic R&B, Anita's album is sure to please. With songs like Fuk Yoo and the first single (soon to be released), Should of Known Better, Anita is one singer that has brought a new level of originality to the table and is opening doors for new latina singers everywhere. "I want the industry to know that there's plenty of talent not only in the 818, but in Hispanic communities all over the world...they just have to start paying attention." And, when the album drops, believe that the industry won't have any other option but to pay attention.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
"I've been dying to get back on stage. Most of my time right now is spent recording or writing. The stage is where I was brought up, doing musical theater and performances via my vocal coach. I miss the spotlight. I'm always willing to perform, the opportunity just hasn't presented itself yet."
Your musical influences
"I was trained vocally in opera so many opratic sopranos have influenced me. Then I moved on to the showtunes, then jazz, the blues, then pop, then R&B, and finally I have come to the point that I'm at now. There are two artist that I admire now and have always admired. Mary J. Blige and Mariah Carey. Their ability to bring amazing music, every single time, for this long shows a great talent as well as much dedication. I could only hope that my career lasts half as long as theirs with material that knocks just as hard as theirs."
What equipment do you use?
"Most of my recordings are sketch for now and they are recorded at home on the Magix Audio Studio using a Playstation headset mic. (yes folks, the one that's included with Karaoke Revolution.)"
